FAQs

Experiences With M

How fit do I need to be to join an Experience?

Each Experience is different, and any pre-requisites will be stated in the Experience information. This is not meant to be a limiting factor, we want these activities to be as inclusive as possible, but it is helpful to include a guide as to how far you should be comfortable running, walking or cycling for example. Most of the Experiences are held in the Yorkshire Dales so you should expect hills, whatever the activity! These experiences are not designed to be competitive, they are designed to be immersive and for each individual to get out of their time with us, what they wish.

Can you help with travel arrangements?

With most of the Experiences being based in the Yorkshire Dales, there are a number of travel options. Full venue location information will be included with your booking confirmation, so for those guests driving it will be clear how to find us. Our closest railway stations include Harrogate, Thirsk, Northallerton and Darlington, with the nearest airport being Leeds Bradford. Please enquire directly for any support required with travel to the venues from railway stations or airports.

What type of accommodation can I expect?

Experiences With M brings together like-minded people who have a love of food and share an interest in one or more activities. Before booking, please ensure you are prepared to share accommodation with a fellow guest. Specific accommodation details will be provided in the individual Experience information and is based on shared accommodation, with either en-suite bathroom and shared bathroom facilities. We will do our best to accommodate single occupancy guests if there is accommodation available. A single occupancy supplement will apply, the cost of which will be dependent upon the individual Experience. Please contact us directly to discuss these requirements.

Which venues do you hire?

Experiences With M works with several accommodation suppliers ranging from idyllic, wild glamping sites to beautifully renovated manor houses. We strive to ensure there are a variety of accommodation options available.

What kit and/or equipment should I bring?

Upon booking you will receive a suggested kit and/or equipment list for your Experience. If you have any specific questions please get in touch. Bike hire can be arranged on request. Some of our Experiences provide cooking demonstrations and dining areas in outdoor shelters for a truly immersive Dales experience, so please ensure you bring appropriate clothing for every weather eventuality – particularly as Yorkshire Dales weather can be unpredictable!

What food and drink are included in my Experience?

Unless otherwise stated, you can expect breakfast, lunch and dinner to be provided from the moment you arrive to the time you depart. A variety of hot and cold drinks will be provided and there will be wine and beer available in the evenings. For our more food-focused Experiences, you can expect a variety of drinks with your evening meal, which will be described in detail in the Experience information.

When you have booked your place, you will be asked to answer a number of questions to help ensure your Experience is as enjoyable as possible, including what you would like to see in the daily cooking demonstrations.

What dietary requirements can you cater for?

You will be asked about your dietary requirements on booking so we can ensure you enjoy your Experience as much as possible. We cannot guarantee the absence of allergens, but any allergens stated upon booking will not be used in any of the meals during your Experience

What happens if the weather is unfavourable?

We would be loathe to cancel an activity due to poor weather, particularly as we are firm believers in appropriate clothing! However, if a coach or guide believes the conditions to be unsafe, then we will look at alternatives for that time.

What happens if I acquire an injury during an Experience?

If you suffer any kind of injury we ask you to report it immediately so the injury can be assessed, documents and appropriate action taken

What happens if I am too injured to participate in the remainder of the Experience?

If you require medical assistance and are advised not to carry on with the activity, then you are welcome to stay and enjoy the food elements of the Experience, or of course you may depart if you wish. You should ensure this eventuality is covered by your insurance policy as partial refunds are not given – we will provide information required for you to claim on insurance.

Do I need travel insurance?

We recommend you have up to date and comprehensive medical and personal accident insurance cover.

Do you offer bespoke Experiences?

We can create an Experience to suit your requirements for groups of varying sizes, whether family, friends or corporate bookings. Please use the contact information form to outline your requirements.

Private cooking lessons, masterclasses and demonstrations With M

What will I learn during a private cooking lesson/demonstration?

Whatever you like! The beauty of a private lesson or demonstration is that it is bespoke, and you don’t have to choose from a list of courses – it’s all about you, your group, and your culinary experience. If you are unsure of what you would like to cook, or what you would like me to demonstrate, I can provide ideas and inspiration aplenty.

How long is a private cooking lesson?

Three hours is the ideal time for a private lesson. It is an immersive experience and whilst time might fly (because you’re having fun!) it is an in-depth Experience and three hours is enough. You can book multiple lessons if you wish.

How long is a masterclass/demonstration?

Delivery to a group is different to a hands-on session, so we recommend anything from 45 minutes to an hour and a half, depending on the occasion.

What is the ideal group size for a masterclass/demonstration?

We recommend a maximum of 20 per group.

How will I know what ingredients and equipment I need for a lesson?

A week prior to your lesson you will receive detailed ingredients and equipment lists. If there are items of equipment you do not have, please let us know as we may be able to bring that so you can use it and decide if you want to commit to buying it in the future.

Will you bring all ingredients/equipment needed for a demonstration?

Yes – all ingredients, equipment and any items required for tasting will be brought to the demonstration. We may have electricity requirements which we can discuss once the content of the demonstration has been confirmed.

We hope this information answers any questions you may have about Experiences, Private Cooking lessons and demonstrations With M, if not please do get in touch via michaela@withm.co.uk or our contact form and we will respond promptly.
