Hannah and I met on Instagram! She has been coaching for four years and discovered her love of running after having her two children. Since falling head over heels in love with how running makes her feel, she has been on a mission to share the physical and mental benefits running can bring with as many people as possible. Hannah started the Upper Wharfedale Runners running club, which meets every week in Grassington in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. She offers online coaching and looks after runners of all abilities who are each working towards their own goals, from 5k to ultra-marathons. I was struck by her honesty, positivity and unwavering desire to spread the joy of running. I get the impression she isn’t one for taking herself too seriously but she’s making a real impact on people who join her coaching sessions, and there’s a genuine sense of community in the club. I’ve no doubt Hannah will bring masses of running knowledge and fun to Experiences With M and I’m looking forward to sharing those times with her. Hannah’s favourite distance is the half marathon and the more elevation the better!
I’ve had the pleasure of knowing Mark for nearly 10 years, and how mighty pleased I am that I do. Given his vast knowledge and epic achievements (there isn’t enough space to list them!), he’s a pretty humble chap – he takes time to explain himself and has a no-nonsense, simple approach to delivering information, always based on scientific fact. What he doesn’t know about movement and nutrition isn’t worth knowing. We’ve shared hundreds of miles of cycling, running and walking together and I am delighted that he will be helping me create joyful memories for guests of Experiences With M.
Dave and I met through the wonderful woman who created this website. As soon as I spoke to him I sensed he lived and breathed cycling. He operates Nidderdale Cycles, a bicycle repair and hire company in the Yorkshire Dales. He played Rugby League up to the age of 40 and then took up triathlon, where he competes regularly from Sprint to Iron distance and is involved in organising events at his local club. He is qualified as a Triathlon coach and Mountain Bike and Road Bike instructor, he’s also a cycle mechanic, so no issues when out on the roads! As well as enjoying moving his body a lot, Dave’s other passions include eating good food and drinking nice coffee – so we’re going to get along famously. Having seen his face light up when he talked about the Yorkshire Dales and helping people explore the stunning scenery this countryside has to offer, I just know he will make any Experience With M unforgettable.
In addition to Vern’s many sporting achievements and qualifications, he is also a former Army Officer, scaling the ranks from Guardsman to Lieutenant Colonel – it’s safe to say he has a few stories up his sleeve! Being outdoors is what gives him most enjoyment – he’s completed many a mountain-marathon and is an experienced IronMan triathlete. He has represented Great Britain at Duathlon and is a coach and mentor of young athletes at the Army Foundation College in Harrogate. Vern has been immersed in the heart of Nidderdale for years and I know he will bring this beautiful area to life whilst guiding road cycling Experiences With M.
