Why join us for a Relaxation Retreat…

Everyday life can be stressful and unrelenting, so why not step off for a few days and escape to this Yorkshire Relaxation Retreat in the Yorkshire Dales? This is the perfect opportunity to immerse yourself in a range of inspiring workshops and holistic therapies, switch off and invest in some ‘you time’ and enjoy some delicious meals, lovingly prepared for you by me – M. Joining me to create the perfect relaxation retreat are Carrie, Izzy, Faith, Georgina and Sudeshna – all wellbeing specialists and experienced practitioners. What to expect during your relaxation retreat…

I look forward to welcoming you on Monday 26th September to The Blue House – an eight-bedroom property in the peaceful village of Low Grantley, near Ripon, North Yorkshire. Arriving from 5pm, you will be welcomed with tea or coffee and delicious homemade cake, a tour of the property, and time to settle into your surroundings. This gentle, calm introduction to your relaxation retreat will help you leave behind everyday life and prepare you for a few days to invest in your wellbeing.

Tuesday morning, join me on my favourite trail in this part of the Yorkshire Dales. We will head to Eavestone lake and spend some time in the ancient woodlands, explore the natural environment around the water, and take in some spectacular views on our way back to the retreat venue. After lunch Izzy Anderson will deliver an essential oils workshop, one of several inspiring workshops offered during the retreat. Izzy will teach you about the properties of a range of oils and will guide you in creating your own blend which you can take away with you. This session will be followed by the first yoga practice with Carrie Prideaux – 200Hrs RYT Yoga Teacher and owner of Hope Yoga Yorkshire. The first three yoga sessions (Tue-Thu) will be delivered at Grantley Village Hall, which is a ten-minute walk across the fields or along a pathway. Yoga mats will be provided for all guests.

Wednesday, we will have a leisurely breakfast, and late morning Carrie will lead your second yoga practice of the week. After lunch, Faith Douglas will lead you in a Mindfulness/Forest Bathing experience. Faith is curator at Thorp Perrow Arboretum, author of The Nature Remedy and owner of Forest Bathing UK – she has vast experience of guiding people in various natural environments, and will support you in this relaxation technique, showing you how you can benefit from being more mindful in a natural environment. Faith    is also a Usui Reiki Master Practitioner, and after dinner, will deliver a reiki drum shower, an ideal relaxation session to help you wind down and aid sleep.

Thursday morning Carrie will deliver your third yoga practice. There will be a few hours of free time after lunch, after which we will be joined by Georgina Townsend, registered Nutritionist and owner of NuMindSet Nutrition. Georgina is offering a workshop on Nutrition and Stress Resilience, one of her specialist areas. This session will lead into dinner, where Georgina will help us explore mindful eating. Following dinner, Sudeshna Sarkar – 200Hrs Yoga Alliance accredited Sound Meditation Practitioner and owner of Sound of the Times, will deliver a deeply relaxing Sound Bath, also in Grantley Village hall.

Friday, Carrie will deliver the final yoga session, a 45 minute sunrise practice, just before 7am. Weather permitting on the terrace or on the lawn. This will be followed by a delicious breakfast to set you up for the day. At 11am it will be time to depart feeling refreshed, nourished and inspired by new ideas to bring relaxation, mindfulness and good nutrition into your daily life.

Accommodation

Accommodation is on a shared basis of two people per bedroom. All six bedrooms can be either a super-king size bed or twin beds, please let us know what arrangement you would prefer. Solo travellers are very welcome and will be required to share with other same-gender guests where possible. Please contact M directly if you’d like to discuss a single supplement. Three bedrooms share a bathroom, two bedrooms are en-suite and one bedroom has a private bathroom next to the room.

Feasting & Cooking Demonstrations

All of your meals and drinks are included in the cost of the retreat, as is a selection of wine and beer with your evening meal. I’ll be preparing some delicious vegetarian feasts for you, and will provide some helpful tips and tricks for cooking vegetarian food. There will be demonstrations on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, just before dinner. The first will be about herbs and spices, the second about adding flavour to vegetables and the third will focus on adding flavour to pulses and legumes.
